Last year, TD Bank kicked off its pilot program, Project SEARCH, by welcoming three students to take part in three 10-week internships in their New Jersey offices. The program is a one-year high school transition program, which provides job training and education for high school seniors with cognitive disabilities. This year, the Bank plans to expand this opportunity to more departments.

Before the program, intern Tim Giroux daydreamed about commuting to work with his father, Jeff, a TD employee. And now, thanks to Project SEARCH, Tim's dream has come true, and father and son share a ride to work every day.

“Many organizations talk about diversity and inclusion,” says TD Bank's Chief Communications Officer John Pluhowski. "We actually live it." Pluhowski is the father of a son with autism, and Chairman of the bank's Individuals with Diverse Abilities (IwDA) Subcommittee.
